Black Mold
04:14
|
|||
Daydream, silhouetted moonbeam, thought it was time I'd write
sunlight catching the dust right makes the room feel more alive
meet midway, somewhere by the highway, find us somewhere nice to sit
raincheck, storms were unexpected, you got in an accident//
Thank god you were fine, you probably shouldn't drive for a while
and I was seeing signs, all your shooting stars were my satellites//
Strep throat, you were antisocial, yeah I could feel that alright
black mold creeping in your window, I could almost taste the blight
in the state parks, think I see my own heart, where all of the longing floats
hardships, wondering where the ark is, think we're on the same damn boat//

Periscope
03:37
|
|||
Feels like I'm looking at you through a periscope
I've been alone here, steeped in my old fears
seems you've found yourself a new family
and yeah it hurts, but you can't cage a canary//
Relinquish me, lead-weight memories, cursed blessings
disguised imagery, wouldn't want you guessing
false confessions, don't know what I'd say anyway//
But when death found me, must've scared you senseless
fear the resemblances you see
so forget what you've buried, if you can't find it in you, I can't make you
feel the same ways
as we did in our old days, old age//

Telophase
06:13
|
|||
If my saving grace had any space for an old compatriot
he'd be on a plane eastbound, my safety net on sacred ground
and I may as well be your garden, forgotten completely
but I tilled the soil under your concrete//
Are we speciating now?
can't look at you the same, through your silent, passing frame
five years of falling out
we're stuck in telophase, cursed in an idle way//
Come calling, I'm not what you need right now
we're falling out of touch and in parallel lines//

Warm December Rains
04:35
|
|||
Well it's gray, it's gray in the morning
as I'm speeding away from you
wading into the dew of the highway
pierce the fog all along the state route
and the earth, it's kicked up a storm now
blessed us in warm December rains
but her blessings come laced with a burden
nothing ever is really the same//
oh I'm circling the drain//
And I've got a good thing going, with an expiration date
just as bedrock erodes into soil, successional forests will grow into place
but I don't wanna live in it's shadow
lay my youth on the altar again
my distaste for blood has grown thin, can feel wellness within
but I only recoil and rescind//

Looseleaf
05:24
|
|||
Well I'll stay on my side of the road if you stay on yours
well I've heard enough of all these ends of days before
cause I'm bored sick of the panic,
it begins to sound like background noise//
And the murmur forms a nor'easter and it all starts to feedback
I'm not so certain that I'm on the holy track
cause I feel looseleaf in the library
hanging back and taking shelter from the heat//
Time wastes while you wait around and pray to begin again
over the hills there's a town dressed in gardens
I fear that there's something in the way of it
can I say, come what may, I've made the most of this?//
